I wrote in to CCI via website after reading reports from linkedin that you can recover your scammed money through CCI.  I then had a email from info@cryptocrimeinvestigation.com signed by Mark Miller, Recovery Consultant, asking to fill a form with details of the investment cite, crypto wallet address and amount invested.  I received a forensic analysis report after a few days.  From the forensic report, CCI asked for an initial USD 8500 for operational cost to recover funds and USD 5000 to be paid once the whole process is concluded when I have the funds.

Everything looked professional at this stage.  I transferred USD 8500 in Cryptocurrency USDT using the address given by Mark Miller.  He then asked me to set up an account with www.escrow-chain.com to hold the Bitcoin receive from the recovered sum.  The site, escrow-chain is shaddy, in my opinion .  I couldn’t find any bad review on it.  After recovering the bitcoins, I was then requested to pay 10% of the recovered funds (USD 20,000) to do the coin mixing and subsequently another USD 5000 to transfer the funds to Coinbase wallet.  This happened when the bitcoin had a bull run in March and the coin mixing took longer time because of the traffic ‘hiccup’ and they request me to change to USDT instead.  I received the amount in USDT :

The amount USD in USDT cannot be transferred or encashed.  I was told to pay a further USD 4900 because of the mining problem.  After  further 1 week of mining, another issue surface – liquidity issue and was asked to pay USD 10,500.  I realised something was not correct and wrote to Coinbase Customer Care and was told USD on Ethereum sign was fake.

So, all in all for my carelessness and foolishness, I lost about USD 40 k.

So, don’t ever believe if someone tell you that you can recover your scammed crypto currency.
