Type of Scam: Investment Scam

Description: The victim was initially referred to a seemingly legitimate crypto YouTube page by a friend, where they were encouraged to join a Telegram group for notifications. Once in the group, the victim was directed to a professional-looking investment website, promoting an algorithm that would supposedly safeguard the investment. The victim invested $5,000, only to be told they needed to pay additional funds for taxes in order to retrieve their earnings. This led to another loss of approximately $15,000, as scammers fabricated requirements for a “Binance private key” to proceed. The scam involved multiple layers, from false investment returns to fake tax payments, leaving the victim feeling embarrassed and defrauded.
