I’m raising awareness about a recent Twitter scam targeting individuals with promises of “crypto fixed investments” and guaranteed profits. It began innocently enough: I received a direct message from a seemingly reputable account on Twitter, suggesting a unique opportunity to grow my crypto assets through fixed investments. The account appeared genuine, with a respectable following and posts that hinted at knowledge in crypto investments. However, this encounter turned out to be part of a calculated scam designed to lure unsuspecting users into fraudulent schemes.
After a few exchanges, I was given a demo account, where I could view sample profits and returns. The demo was convincing, showcasing consistent, impressive gains that made the entire scheme seem legitimate. Encouraged by these results, I made an initial investment, convinced by the “fixed” nature of the supposed returns. Unfortunately, this was the beginning of a swift descent into financial loss. I ultimately transferred approximately $400 in Bitcoin to the addresses bc1q48c4vrzdvj9eajwl5r9l853vc5jrgc06aangst in two separate transactions (0.00156953 BTC and 0.00150937 BTC). Soon after, communication became scarce, and any attempts to withdraw or inquire about my “profits” were ignored.
This type of scam thrives by using social media platforms like Twitter, where the veneer of familiarity and trust can easily be constructed. Scammers leverage direct messaging to avoid public scrutiny and to make the scheme feel more personal and credible. The use of demo accounts is especially misleading, as they simulate gains that build confidence in the scam and prompt victims to invest more.
If you’ve encountered this crypto fixed investment scheme on Twitter or experienced something similar, please share your experience. Reporting these fraudulent addresses and schemes can help others recognize red flags before they fall victim. Always exercise caution when approached about investment opportunities through social media, especially when they demand cryptocurrency transfers, as these are nearly impossible to recover once sent.
