We received a report about a fraudulent tech support website, call.trzzx.help, which targets individuals experiencing technical issues with their laptops. Here’s a breakdown of the scam:
The user encountered a problem with their laptop and, upon searching for help on Google, came across call.trzzx.help. This site claimed to offer tech support but instead is a malicious scam. When visiting the site, the scammers instructed the user to install a program script under the guise of helping troubleshoot the issue. However, the program locked the user’s laptop, making it unusable.
Once the laptop was locked, the scammer demanded a payment to unlock it, refusing to accept traditional payment methods and only accepting gift cards or cryptocurrency, making the transaction untraceable and irreversible. Sadly, the user sent funds through crypto to try and regain access to their device.
Transaction Details:
- Scammer’s Wallet Address: 0xA88594D404727625A9437C3f886C7643872296AE
These scammers rely on panic and urgency, using a locked device to force payment quickly. Here’s how you can protect yourself:
- Avoid Suspicious Tech Support Websites: Only contact tech support directly through official channels.
- Be Cautious with Installation Requests: Reputable support will never ask you to install suspicious programs.
- Do Not Send Crypto or Gift Cards: These methods are preferred by scammers due to their irreversible nature.
Stay cautious online—only seek tech support from verified sources and avoid sharing payments via crypto or gift cards with unverified contacts.
