We want to share a critical warning regarding an investment scam that has come to our attention through a recent complaint. If you have been involved in investment opportunities online, especially those promising significant returns with little due diligence, it’s essential to be aware of the risks associated with such ventures. In this instance, $17,000 USD was lost to a fraudulent scheme that involved the transfer of funds to a cryptocurrency wallet, specifically the address 0x36e1d8D9D700958986322c897B7Fd3e242DC9644.

This wallet has been linked to deceptive practices that lure investors into a false sense of security, often through well-designed websites, convincing communications, or seemingly trustworthy representatives. The scams are designed to appear legitimate, offering attractive investment options or exclusive financial opportunities that are difficult to pass up. Once the funds are sent, however, victims quickly find that withdrawals become impossible, communication with the so-called representatives ceases, and the initial promises made by the platform dissolve into silence.

If you have engaged with any platform or investment scheme where funds have been directed to the address mentioned above, we urge you to act with caution. These scams often deploy tactics that make them seem authentic, such as fake testimonials, fabricated regulatory claims, or even superficial relationships with known industry figures. The use of this wallet address in multiple transactions without clear or legitimate purposes is a strong indicator of fraudulent intent.

We understand that falling victim to such a scheme can be both financially and emotionally distressing. It’s important to recognize that while these operations are sophisticated and can deceive even seasoned investors, there are steps you can take to report and investigate further. Reaching out to relevant authorities and providing detailed information about your experience, including transaction hashes and communication records, can help prevent others from suffering similar losses.

Conclusively, while we cannot definitively label every operation involving this address as fraudulent without further verification, the signs point strongly toward a scam operation. Always exercise due diligence, verify the authenticity of investment platforms, and be wary of unsolicited financial opportunities. Stay vigilant and informed, and do not hesitate to seek professional advice if you suspect a fraudulent scheme.

We want to warn you about a scam involving the website fxpro.us. This fraudulent platform tricks traders by impersonating a legitimate service. In this case, the scammer demanded a $19,500 “tax payment” before allowing a withdrawal of $160,000. The scammer threatened a 5% penalty if the payment wasn’t made within three days. No legitimate platform would demand upfront tax payments like this. If you’ve encountered fxpro.us or received emails like this, you’re likely dealing with a scam.

In this case, the victim had been trading on the app and realized something was wrong after receiving an unprofessional email with no subject line. The email demanded a tax payment to complete the withdrawal. The platform’s impersonation of the real FxPro makes it even more dangerous. Scammers use tactics like these to pressure you into quick decisions. If you ever face similar demands, step back and contact a professional or the authorities for advice.

Our team at CNC Intelligence helped investigate this case. We reviewed transaction records, provided a detailed report, and guided the victim on steps to take with law enforcement.

Always verify the legitimacy of platforms before trading. If a website seems suspicious or uses high-pressure tactics, stopping and checking is better than losing money. Based on what we’ve seen, fxpro.us is not a trustworthy platform. Stay safe, and if you’ve been affected, don’t hesitate to seek professional help.

On November 15, 2024, we received a complaint from a person who lost $16,342 in an investment scam. The victim was using an app called “fxpro.us” and trading with someone they believed to be legitimate. When attempting to withdraw a large amount of roughly $160,000, the victim received an email with no subject line demanding a tax payment of $19,500 before the transaction could be processed. The email also mentioned a 5% fee if the payment was delayed by three days.

            The victim shared their concerns:

Is this a legitimate thing for fxpro.us, or am I getting scammed? I can send screenshots of the email if you need it.

The associated blockchain address used by the scammer is 0x36e1d8D9D700958986322c897B7Fd3e242DC9644 (ETH)
