We recently received a report of a scam involving a fraudulent NFT offer. Here’s what happened:
A scammer promised an exclusive NFT at an enticing 80% discount below market price, claiming it was a “limited offer.” The victim, eager to secure the deal, was persuaded to send payment quickly. Once the payment was sent, the scammer immediately blocked all contact and never transferred the promised NFT.
The details of the transaction are as follows:
- Scammer’s Wallet Address: 0xb2c44d22de229905501dbffcb17e1bb466a017f7
- Amount Sent: 1.32937 ETH (equivalent to approximately $3,497 at the time of transaction)
Unfortunately, once cryptocurrency is transferred, it’s almost impossible to recover funds. Scammers often rely on this irreversible nature of crypto to trick unsuspecting buyers.
How to Protect Yourself:
- Verify the seller: Check for verified profiles or known marketplaces.
- Beware of too-good-to-be-true offers: Unrealistic discounts are often a red flag.
- Use secure marketplaces: Stick to reputable platforms with escrow services
Please be vigilant and share this warning with others in the NFT and crypto community. Don’t fall victim to these schemes!
