The complaint we received:
I must bring to your attention a pressing issue – a potential scam involving cryptocurrency transactions under the guise of customer support for KuCoin. A scammer, posing as a support worker on a Telegram group for KuCoin newcomers, tricked me into transferring significant amounts of cryptocurrency, falsely assuring me that I was securing funds into my new KuCoin account. This scammer, who goes by the name ‘Alex’ and uses the phone number 434-227-8197, exploited my trust by assisting with ID verification on KuCoin.
Four separate transactions from my Binance account were used for fraudulent activities. The stolen assets include Binance Coin (BNB), Hedera Hashgraph (HBAR), and Monero (XMR), totaling a loss of approximately $1500 to $2000 USD in March 2024.
