Scam Alert: Potential Crypto Scam via Social Media

      Type of Scam: Investment/Crypto Scam

Details: A significant sum of $59,200 was transferred from a Community Federal Savings Bank account to a Trust Wallet blockchain account, facilitated by an individual named Adrian Li, whom the victim met on Facebook Messenger. The involvement of a social media acquaintance in large financial transactions, especially in the realm of cryptocurrency, is highly susceptible to scams.

      Receiving Wallet Addresses:

      Ethereum: 0x15dee736ab57817f3137def47ba1533bde3888ea
      Bitcoin: bc1qxu3njh3tx92wqr4e4t6p3qydl9lyeu2s3y7vwz (listed twice)
      Ethereum: 0x07058cd806c768410c43574d445b67da31dfe4ed

Warning: Engaging in financial transactions, especially significant ones, through contacts made on social media platforms like Facebook can be very risky. It is crucial to verify the legitimacy of every transaction and the identity of individuals involved in such transfers. The repeated listing of the same Bitcoin address and the direct involvement of a newly acquainted individual via social media heightens the risk of fraud.

      Action Steps:

Cease further transactions: Do not send any more funds to the provided addresses or to any address given by social media contacts without thorough verification.
Contact your bank: Inform your bank about the transaction and seek advice on any possible recourse or fraud protection measures.
Report the incident: Contact local authorities and report the incident to cybercrime units, especially those focusing on cryptocurrency scams.
Increase security: Consider enhancing security measures for your financial and social media accounts, including changing passwords and enabling two-factor authentication.
Educate yourself about cryptocurrency transactions: Before engaging in further crypto transactions, it is advisable to educate oneself about the secure handling and transferring of cryptocurrencies.
If you have already transferred the funds and suspect fraudulent activity, acting swiftly can help in potentially recovering the funds or preventing further loss.
