I had always trusted major crypto news websites to keep me informed. So when I came across a breaking news article on “CryptoInsider.io” stating that Tesla was launching a Bitcoin investment platform, I was intrigued. The article had a video of Elon Musk explaining how investors could earn passive income by depositing Bitcoin into Tesla’s blockchain network.
The website looked identical to major crypto news sites, even featuring articles from real reporters I had followed before. The article provided a link to Tesla’s official investment portal, where users could deposit BTC and earn guaranteed returns.
The minimum deposit was 0.5 BTC ($15,000 at the time). The offer was limited to the first 1,000 investors, so I acted quickly and sent the funds.
Days passed, and when I tried to check my investment, the website had disappeared. The so-called “news site” was actually a fake domain registered by scammers to mimic real crypto news platforms.
I later found out that hundreds of people had fallen for the same scam, losing millions in total. The entire operation had been a well-planned phishing attack, and I had walked right into it.
