We received the following complaint regarding a scam on letterboxd.com:
On June 28th, I received a job opportunity via WhatsApp from an “inviter” representing a company called Letterboxd. The job seemed straightforward: watch a set of 30-40 movie clips, and after paying a small deposit, I would receive my deposit back plus commissions for each clip. This initially appeared legitimate, as I started with a training deposit and made $76.
However, things quickly escalated. I was encouraged to deposit $35 for a bigger payout, which I did, and I successfully withdrew more money. Then, the “inviter” informed me that the minimum deposit was $105 for a set of 30 movie clips, and only cryptocurrency (ETH) was accepted for deposits.
As I continued, I noticed my account balance going into negative numbers. The customer service team, communicating via WhatsApp, explained this as a “combination order,” which meant my account could go negative but would be rectified once I paid the difference and completed the set of clips. Despite the negatives, I continued depositing money and receiving returns, reinforcing my trust.
On July 4th, a new promotion was introduced: deposits of $3000 or more would result in a return of the deposit plus 15%, $100 base pay, and commissions. Believing this lucrative opportunity, I deposited $4174.45 for 40 movie clips.
Unfortunately, this was the beginning of a massive financial loss. The negatives grew exponentially, with the customer service team insisting each time that it would be the last. I paid increasingly larger amounts to clear the negatives: $6K, $14K, $23K, and finally $60K, believing their assurances that each would be the last. By the 40th movie clip, I was informed that my account was now $135K.
Having already paid $108,773.00, I refused to pay the additional $135K and demanded my money back. Customer service insisted that the only way to recover my money was to complete the set by paying the final negative. They refused my requests, stating it was the “basic rule of the workbench.” No rules were ever provided on their website, nor did I sign any agreement.

Conclusion
Based on the overwhelming evidence presented in Trustpilot reviews and the detailed account of financial losses, it is evident that the activities associated with this entity are highly deceptive and predatory. The repeated patterns of unsolicited job offers via WhatsApp, vague communications, and escalating financial demands strongly indicate a well-orchestrated scam designed to exploit individuals’ trust and desperation. Given the severity of the financial losses reported and the emotional toll on the victims, it is clear that this company’s actions are unethical and illegal.
