I recently fell victim to an online scam while trying to purchase a TV. I was browsing for a Walmart TV sale and got redirected to a website featuring various companies selling TVs. I found an incredibly cheap offer that claimed to be from Best Buy, complete with authentic-looking logos and site security features. Believing it to be a legitimate deal, I purchased the item for $56.99, a transaction that was reflected in my bank account.

Shortly after, I received an email from the store, informing me of an issue with the order, even though they had already received my payment. The only contact information available was an email from giveemonday.com. Strangely, my bank statement listed the payee as ‘EALUN’. Currently, my bank is investigating this incident as a potential fraudulent activity.

Be cautious out there, everyone. Scammers are using increasingly sophisticated methods to appear legitimate.
