The purpose of this article is to raise awareness about a recent scam involving Madec Solutions (MadecSolutions.com), a company that initially provided computer technical support services but later engaged in fraudulent activities. A victim from Colorado was deceived by the company into purchasing fake “insurance” to protect their personal information from the dark web, claiming that hackers had compromised their computer. Over nearly a year, the victim was coerced into making continuous payments under the pretense of restoring their files and securing their information. Despite assurances of reimbursement, the victim was left with a staggering financial loss of $218,000. The company used various means of communication, including text messages from a California phone number, while payments were directed to Bend, Oregon. Madec Solutions operated under the email

and phone number (866) 265-6516. This scam underscores the importance of vigilance when dealing with companies offering unsolicited security services.
