A WhatsApp Group That Promised High-Yield Returns
Messaging apps like WhatsApp have become popular tools for scammers to create exclusive-looking investment groups. I recently joined one that claimed to offer access to high-yield crypto investments, but it turned out to be a scam.

The group was managed by someone who claimed to be a seasoned trader with insider knowledge of the crypto market. They shared screenshots of their trading successes and provided daily tips on which tokens to buy. Members in the group constantly praised the admin, claiming they had doubled or tripled their investments by following the advice.

Eventually, the admin introduced a private investment fund, offering guaranteed monthly returns of 20%. To join, members had to send a minimum of $1,000 in Bitcoin to the admin’s wallet. The testimonials from other members made it seem like a safe bet, so I decided to join.

For the first month, I received a payout as promised, which gave me confidence to invest more. But soon after, the payouts stopped, and the admin disappeared. The group was deleted, and I was left with nothing. Later, I found out that many of the “members” praising the admin were fake accounts used to build trust.

This taught me to avoid investment schemes run through informal platforms like WhatsApp or Telegram. Legitimate investments don’t rely on promises of guaranteed returns or unverified groups. Always stick to established, regulated platforms, and don’t trust anonymous traders.
