Hello Community,
I wanted to share a recent experience and get your thoughts on whether it might be a scam. A few days ago, I received a call from the number 216-592-3472. The caller offered me free internet services through the ACP (Affordable Connectivity Program). They transferred me to another person who verified my email, phone number, and the name on my social security card. They also repeatedly asked if I was receiving Medicaid or food stamps.
Here’s where it gets suspicious: When I inquired about the name of their company, they simply said “ACP.” Additionally, they refused to give a callback number, telling me not to worry and that a parcel would arrive in the mail soon, and they would contact me again. They didn’t provide any further details.
I’m concerned this might be a phishing attempt or an imposter scam. Has anyone else received a similar call or has information about such practices? I haven’t provided them with any sensitive information apart from what was mentioned, but I’m still worried. Any advice on how to handle this situation or confirm its legitimacy would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help, and stay safe!
Best regards,
Annie
