    Someone posted a wallet address in a crypto discussion and said:

    “Look at the transaction history. A scammer wouldn’t move this much money.”

    So I looked.

    The wallet was definitely active.

    Incoming: USDT
    Outgoing: USDT
    Transactions: Frequent
    Activity: Almost every day

    At first, that sounds reassuring.

    But then I thought about what the blockchain was actually showing me.

    It showed transfers.

    It didn’t tell me why those transfers happened.

    I couldn’t tell whether incoming funds were customer deposits, internal transfers, payments from exchanges, or something completely unrelated.

    The outgoing side had the same problem.

    Were those successful customer withdrawals?

    Transfers to another wallet?

    Funds being moved to an exchange?

    The transaction list alone couldn’t answer that.

    One detail did catch my attention, though.

    Several incoming payments were followed shortly afterwards by transfers to another address.

    Then that second wallet appeared to send funds onward again.

    Wallet A → Wallet B → Wallet C

    Interesting?

    Yes.

    Proof of fraud?

    No.

    That’s an important distinction.

    Blockchain data can give researchers useful leads, but I think it’s easy to look at an active wallet and attach whatever story we already expect to find.

    If someone tells me:

    “This wallet proves customers are getting paid,”

    I’d ask how they established that.

    And if someone says:

    “This wallet proves the platform is a scam,”

    I’d ask the same question.

    Transaction activity is evidence of transaction activity.

    Connecting those transactions to specific people, businesses, or alleged fraud requires more information.

    So I save the addresses, transaction hashes, dates, amounts, and any messages connecting a wallet to a particular payment.

    Then I let the evidence build from there.

    Follow the transactions, but don’t make the blockchain say more than it actually says.
