Website Was New, but the Company Claimed 10 Years of Experience

I noticed something recently that made me spend a little longer researching a crypto platform.

Right at the top of the website it said:

“Trusted by investors for over 10 years.”

That’s a strong claim.

Out of curiosity, I checked the domain information.

The website appeared to be relatively new.

Now, that doesn’t automatically mean anything is wrong. A long-established company can launch a new website or change domains.

So I kept looking.

The About page said the business had been operating since 2016.

I searched for older mentions of the company.

Very little appeared.

No old announcements.

No obvious discussions from earlier customers.

No archived social media activity that matched the claimed history.

Then I checked their social profiles.

Most had been created fairly recently.

That’s where I started asking a different question.

If this business has genuinely operated for around a decade, where is the history?

A company might change its website.

It might rebrand.

It might create new social accounts.

All of those things can happen legitimately.

But I’d expect at least something connecting the current platform to its claimed past.

An old company registration.

Previous domain.

Historical announcements.

Older customer discussions.

Anything independently verifiable.

Instead of immediately deciding the platform was fraudulent, I simply added the mismatch to my list of things that needed an explanation.

I think that’s an important distinction.

New domain = not automatically a scam.

Old company claim + no verifiable history = worth investigating.

Sometimes research isn’t about finding one huge red flag.

It’s about noticing when the dates don’t tell the same story.
