Victims are approached with what appears to be a remote job opportunity to boost hotel ratings online. After completing several small tasks, they are presented with a “combination” or “package” that suddenly causes their account balance to turn negative. They are then pressured into depositing more funds to “restore” their account in order to cash out. Despite promises that the negative balance scenario is rare (e.g., only 2 per set), it often repeats multiple times—four or more—trapping victims into a cycle of deposits with no actual payout.
