We want to share a case where a scammer lured their victim through a romance and trading scheme. The scam began on the dating app Hinge, where the scammer, posing as “Line,” claimed to be a CFA with expertise in trading. They convinced the victim to use Trust Wallet and Discover, with trades conducted on Okcoin.

This individual built trust by communicating over FaceTime and making everything seem credible. Eventually, they pushed the victim to invest $2,500 in Bitcoin and even suggested taking a loan for further trading.

What stands out in this case is how the scammer used personal conversations and false credentials to manipulate trust. This method makes it harder for people to see the scam for what it is. The victim took screenshots and recorded conversations, but by the time they realized it was a scam, $20,000 was lost. CNC Intelligence worked on this case by analyzing transactions and helping gather crucial documentation for investigation.

If you’re wondering whether this is a scam, the answer is clear. The use of false credentials, pushing for loans, and requesting large investments point directly to a scam. Always stay cautious when someone online offers financial advice, especially if they ask for money upfront or push loans.
