I Asked for Proof of the “Trading License” and Got a Screenshot

This was an interesting one.

A crypto platform claimed on its website that it was a “fully licensed international trading company.”

I wanted to know what that actually meant, so I asked support where the license could be verified.

About five minutes later, they sent me a screenshot of a certificate.

It looked official.

Company name at the top.
Registration number underneath.
Stamp in the corner.

But a screenshot isn’t really what I was asking for.

I wanted to know who issued it and whether I could verify the information independently.

So I asked for the regulator’s name or an official record where the license could be checked.

The response?

“The certificate proves our company is legitimate.”

I asked again.

This time they sent the same image.

That made me much less interested in opening an account.

A document can look professional without proving what someone claims it proves. Company registration and authorization to provide financial services may also be completely different things.

For me, the useful questions became:

Who issued this document?

What exactly does it authorize the company to do?

Can I verify the number independently?

Does the company name on the record match the platform I’m dealing with?

If the only “proof” available is an image supplied by the same people asking for your deposit, I’d keep researching.

The screenshot might be genuine. It might be irrelevant. It might be altered.

The point is that verification should not end with the screenshot.
